I completely agree about the narrative. I thought the interactions were very mundane and I felt that there was some importance with the cat because the cat was so prominent throughout the chapter. I also found it rather difficult to understand what Joyce was trying to convey. The chapter was much more familiar to a typical morning with breakfast and day to day activity. What exactly is Joyce expecting for the reader to take away from “Calypso” I am not sure. Is there something more significant in this chapter than what activities Bloom participates in? Stephen’s thoughts were more philosophical than Bloom’s, there wasn’t anything too special or outstanding about what Bloom thought about or what he had to say.
